Through the veneration of Orisa, in general, and Obatala, specifically.

The Omo Obatala Egbe Inc was created in 1988 as a cultural non-profit organization whose mission is to research and preserve the traditions and practices of the Yoruba/Lukumi culture. We accomplish our mission through the perpetuation and veneration of Yoruba/Lukumi culture through educational and research programs for adults and youth’ cultural enrichment’ and, providing social services for our members and the general community.

Our base consists of people who are dedicated and committed to Yoruba/Lucumi culture. The organization has influenced the general community-at-large through various initiatives and events with a focus on helping people learn about the culture. Some of the programs and initiatives have included cultural events at the renown International African Arts Festival held annual in Brooklyn, NY; being featured in concert performances at Aaron Davis Hall and Lincoln Center; fashion shows, annual community service and educational events including clothing, book, and food drives. Additionally, one of the major and longstanding programs is hosting and organizing the International Orisa Conference.
