Conference Overview:

Water is Sacred. As the world continues to experience crises regarding water and its sources, this year's conference will discuss the importance of water to the mind, body, and soul as individuals and to our planet. The conference aims to explore the intersectionality of water, climate change, and social justice within the context of the Orisa tradition. This conference will bring together scholars, practitioners, and community members from Nigeria, the Caribbean, the United States, and the Diaspora to examine the impact of climate change on water resources, the sacredness of water within the Orisa tradition, and to discuss strategies for promoting social justice in these regions as well as how we continue to connect to water meaningfully within spiritual practice.

Through dynamic workshops and panel discussions that center water- from traditional spiritual practices to wellness, creative song, and movement that address the Orisas of water, we will also discuss how we might create ways to align with the power of water to build more resilient communities, spiritual wellness, and practice. 

Conference Objectives:

1. Explore the relationship between water, climate change, and the Orisa tradition in Nigeria, the Caribbean, and the United States.

2. Analyze the social, cultural, and environmental implications of climate change on water resources within the context of the Orisa tradition.

3. Discuss strategies for promoting social justice and equitable access to water resources within Orisa communities.

4. Foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among scholars, practitioners, and community members working in water, climate change resilience, and social justice within the Orisa tradition.

5. Develop actionable recommendations and initiatives to address the challenges and promote social justice and actionable agenda within Orisa communities.
