Our annual conference brings together international artists, activists, dancers, educators, anthropologists, ministers and priests. We strive to make a difference by educating the public and expanding our reach. The conference is designed to educate not only adults but youth in the community.
This year’s conference, Tongues and the Third Eye: The Power of Orisa through Sacred Language is designed to engage audiences, community members, and Orisa practitioners in dialogue, community conversations, and workshops about how Orisa speaks and communicates in rituals, sacred oracle, prayers, and everyday practice, as well as artistic expressions such as dance, music, culinary arts, and visual arts.
The conference will address through opening plenary, panel discussions, and workshops the link between art expressions, rituals, and language in Yoruba tradition and spirituality.
The tongue – representing the physical and metaphorical representation of the ability to speak, communicate, and affirm our existence as members of society.
The third eye – representing the ability to see what's beyond our immediate existence and to align with the highest energy of Orisa.
Both concepts will be examined during the conference to further explore through thoughtful dialogue and discussion with experts, scholars, and practitioners how they are realized through traditional Yoruba practices and spirituality.
