Our annual conference brings together international artists, activists, dancers, educators, anthropologists, ministers and priests. We strive to make a difference by educating the public and expanding our reach. The conference is designed to educate not only adults but youth in the community.
To say that this past year and a half of a pandemic has been like no other for most of our lives, is an often-heard statement and clearly very true. But these are not the only difficult times we have come through.
Our 23rd Annual International Orisa Conference and 2nd Virtual Conference will bring together priests, faith keepers, spiritual practitioners, experts in the mind/spirit/body connection, and scholars from a variety of time honored spiritual and religious traditions in discussions about Faith and how it sustains us.
Throughout this conference we will delve deeply into the concept and experience of Faith. We will examine what it is within Orisa, Ifa, Candomblé, Christianity, Akan, Native American Spirituality, and Hoodoo that helps us to maintain our Faith during difficult times and times of crisis.
Our keynote speakers, panel discussions and workshops will address:
Faith in who and what?
Who are the Orisa and other Spiritual Entities we turn to in difficult times?
What are the messages and prophetic tools at our disposal?
What has been the emotional toil of social distancing due to the pandemic?
What is the impact caused by the interruption of our social fabric, initiations, ceremonies, mourning, joyful celebrations, bembes, pow wows, etc.
How do we understand the mind/body/spirit connection and experience of Faith?
What have we learned through this experience?
How do we as practitioners step up our game to use and build on what we learned?
What does the world need from us as spiritual people now? Faith in action.
